Air Freight Services

We provide a full range of air freight logistic services.
Import and Export - We handle all aspects of import and export freight and handle on your behalf from large commercial consignments to excess baggage, household goods and personal effects for the general public. This can be either from door to door, door to airport or airport to door.

Customs Formalities - We can help you with all aspects of customs formalities including tariff calculations and form filling. We also have a vast wealth of experience with customs formalities for exports, both with respect to leaving the UK as well as entering EU and non-EU nations.

Consolidations - Standard consolidations are cheaper than must fly services and are operated under more flexible terms, generally with a 3 day window. This type of service is fine if you are flexible with the delivery date.

Premium Services - For time sensitive shipments we can arrange for must fly premium air freight services. Whilst not as expensive, this type of shipment is booked on scheduled consolidations but with the guarantee that it must leave with the aircraft and arrive at the destination as agreed.

Out of Gauge - We can arrange transport of most outsized cargo such as yachts, boats, architectural metalwork, large vehicles, construction machinery and film props.
Charter Services- This service can be arranged to and from most locations in the world, including remote sites such as oil fields and rural locations, with flexible time scales.

Car Shipping – We have a long history of shipping vehicles overseas by air. Examples include the import/export of cars for sale as well as race cars on temporary export permits for international race events.

Insurance – We can arrange insurance on any consignments for air travel, only on the basis that we are shipping the goods and we are in control of its movement. Please enquire for more details.
Packing - We have the resources available to securely pack your goods ready for air travel. Whether it is a matter of bubble wrap and boxes or over-packing and more secure packing such as wooden casing and freeze packing. We take every care to ensure that your consignments reach their destination in good order. We can also ensure that any dangerous/hazardous goods are packed properly so they will travel legally and without hassle.

Sea Freight Logistics

We provide a full range of sea freight logistic services.
Groupage - We run a number of our own groupage services, as well as utilising services run by NVOCC's, covering all major global destinations.

Port to Port - Our service can be tailored to your specific requirements, whether you’re a home owner relocating or a manufacturer shipping pallets of machine parts overseas, we can afford the time to determine the best routes to achieve your objectives, often using multiple service providers many of whom would not be used by the larger companies who only use their own preferred list of agents.
NVOCC (Non Vessel Owning Common Carrier) - We have access to most NVOCC shipping schedules allowing us to book low cost cargo space for LCL and FCL shipments in advance with certainty.

Project Cargo - We have years of experience in the shipment of over sized and complex cargo by sea, including aircraft, sports cars and antique furniture.

Customs Formalities - We can help you with all aspects of customs formalities including tariff calculations and form filling. We also have a vast wealth of experience with customs formalities for exports, both with respect to leaving the UK as well as entering EU and non-EU nations.
LCL & FCL - We handle both Less than Container Load (LCL) and Full Container Load (FCL) sea freight. LCL sea freight can be either shipped direct to us for groupage, or, if more convenient, to a regional receiving depot. For FCL sea freight, we can arrange for a container to be shipped direct to your premises where it is loaded and sealed or loaded at our warehouse. FCL shipments are the ideal option once you have more than 50% the volume of a shipping container.

Marine Insurance – We can arrange insurance on any consignments for sea travel, only on the basis that we are shipping the goods and we are in control of its movement. Please enquire for more details.
Packing - Sea freight requires careful attention to packing. We take every care to ensure that your consignments reach their destination in good order. Packing starts off with boxes, bubble wrap and other suitable materials to ensure the maximum protection for the actual consignments, through to careful container loading and strapping to avoid the effects of several weeks on the ocean.

Our Road Freight Services

European Road Transport - Our European road haulage service covers most of Western Europe with regular services across France, Spain, Holland, Belgium, Luxembourg and Switzerland. However, most European destinations can be served throughout our network of partners.

UK Road Transport - We can arrange for road haulage of goods across the whole of the UK using either our own vehicles or the services of our business partners. We have regular services across London and the Home Counties and our in house courier operation, EMJ Courier, also offers same day van and pallet courier services.

Door To Door Services - Door to door transport of both large and small shipments can be arranged. With customs restrictions lifted across EU countries door to door services are now a cost effective option for all companies.
Groupage and Dedicated - Regular groupage services are available to most European destinations. Groupage offers a slower, more cost effective solution to your transport requirements with services operating from once a week through to several times a day. Dedicated services are quicker but will cost more as a dedicated vehicle will carry only your shipment to your destination.

Palletised Freight - Utilising EU wide palletised goods shipping services we can arrange for cost effective shipment to all locations. Palletised freight distribution is generally a slower service than door to door but offers lower prices.

Distribution - Supply chain management and logistics solutions support through UK road haulage multi-drop and distribution solutions can be arranged. Typical consignments include retail products, industrial supplies and educational materials. This type of multi-drop service tends to use smaller vehicles.
Palletised Distribution - Larger consignments can be distributed through our network or pallet hauliers who offer an integrated system for distribution of palletised freight around the UK.

Dedicated Deliveries & Full Loads - We can arrange for dedicated vehicles to transport your goods around the country. This is an ideal solution where full loads are being moved and a company does not have the in-house facilities to manage a full time fleet operation.

Express same day Deliveries - For time sensitive shipments we can arrange express services guaranteeing same day deliveries to most UK destinations. This service generally requires 48 hours notice and shipments ready for shipment before 9am for delivery by 5pm.
Specialist Services - Specialist services include low riders for out of gauge consignments, vehicle carriers for plant and off road machinery as well as bulk carriers such as aggregates, fluids and powders. We can also arrange road freight for hazardous goods, both for UK and overseas destinations.

Insurance – We can arrange insurance on any consignments for road travel, only on the basis that we are shipping the goods and we are in control of its movement. Please enquire for more details.

Our Specialist Shipping

Whether it’s unusual cargo or shipping to countries with varied rules and regulations we can ship specialist goods via air or sea on either import or export.

If you have seen our vans, we specialise in shipping to and from the Falkland Islands. We have many customers there who we ship goods to on a regular basis.
This is through our air/sea service via Montevideo, Uruguay and through sea freight containers organised by the companies in FK.

See our Schedules for dates on when we are receiving and sending shipments for our next Falkland Island Air/Sea service.
We can also ship cars to other countries, whether for personal use, racing or exhibitions.

We can help getting the paperwork sorted and the vehicles on the move.

Importing to the UK

Importing to the UK needs to follow the rules set down by HMRC. Failure to do so could result in the items being confiscated or delayed, but don’t worry, we’re here to help.

You import when you bring goods into the UK. Commercial imports from outside the European Union (EU) are subject to systematic controls at the frontier and may also be subject to import charges, i.e. customs duties and VAT (Value Added Tax). Other items which you obtain from outside the EU for your own use or which fall into the category of gifts, are not regarded as commercial imports for Customs purposes. However, personal imports and gifts may still be liable to the same import charges in some circumstances. Intra-EU goods are not subject to systematic controls and generally, subject to few exceptions, can move freely without Customs intervention.
EU & Non EU Imports - The distinction between the treatment of imports from outside the EU compared with imports from other Member States of the EU - called Intra-EU trade, is not just semantics, but reflects differences in the law. Customs procedures that apply to the importation of goods into the UK from places outside the EU are governed by Community and national law and such goods are required to be declared to Customs. For intra-EU trade, although customs declarations are not required and systematic checks are no longer carried out, some Customs checks are still necessary to prevent the importation of prohibited and restricted goods and smuggled excise goods. In both situations however the goods are legally imports into the UK.
Warehousing - If you import non-EU goods liable to customs duty and/or Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) charges, you can suspend payment of the import charges by placing the goods in an approved customs warehouse. Charges are only payable (but may be deferred) when the goods are removed from the customs warehousing arrangements.

Free Zones - You can move imported goods into a free zone without paying import charges (although relief from excise duty is available only if there is an approved excise warehouse in the zone).
Inland Clearance Depots - Instead of having your goods cleared at a port or airport, you can obtain customs clearance at an approved inland depot.

Enhanced Remote Transit Sheds (ERTS) – We can remove non-EU goods from the port or airport of arrival in the UK to premises inland, namely, an Enhanced Remote Transit Shed (ERTS) where the goods will be placed in temporary storage. We will then clear the goods at the ERTS.

Import Guide - You can download the HM Customs & Excise guide on imports here.

Exporting from the UK

Like importing to the UK, exporting from the UK needs to follow the rules set down by HMRC. Failure to do so could result in the items being confiscated or delayed, but don’t worry, we’re here to help.
Commercial EU Exports - To export goods commercially to another country inside the EU you would need to provide a proforma invoice or a delivery note, making sure to charge VAT if you’d do the same for customers in the UK.

Commercial Non-EU Exports - Exporting outside of the EU is slightly different. You may need to pay import duty in the country you’re exporting to. Again for commercial goods, we would require a proforma/commercial invoice with commodity description and codes, and in some cases, a packing list is required too. A commodity description or code should is provided so it is correctly declared to Customs.
When filling in the value of your goods, use the price you’re selling them for (listing separately any freight or export insurance you included in the price). For free samples, use the market value of the goods.

The freight forwarder will use your commercial invoice to make an official customs declaration. Your goods can be held up in customs if the information you give isn’t accurate.

It’s possible to make your own customs declarations, but the process is more complicated and only suitable for more experienced exporters.
Personal Effects - For goods to be classified as personal effects they must be owned by the shipper for a period of time, designated by the relevant Country, usually six months. Personal effects do not require as much paperwork as the items will not be for sale in the country they are being sent to. Duty and Taxes are not usually charged by the importing country and transport and offloading is usually organised by the shipper/importing agent.
Samples, Exhibition goods and Return goods - Certain goods can be exported to other countries without paying the importing duties and taxes. These would be free samples and goods that are only being exported temporarily and will be returned to the UK in the condition it was exported in. This can be done on an ATA Carnet. We can advise on many options for any exporting needs.
